Father Puritan. The Expression of Fatherly Emotions in English Autobiographical Sources of the Stuart Period
In the light of the seventeenth-century memoirs and autobiographies of English puritans, the author researches the relationships between the rules of the verbal expression of emotions existing in this community and the practice of expressing feelings by its particular members. She follows the evolution of attitudes and emotions, which accompany the authors of the presented sources at various stages of their fatherhood, set in a very specific religious context. The author uses the notion of emotional community, conceived by an American researcher, Barbara Rosenwein.
Keywords: fatherhood, puritanism, 17th century England, emotional community, memoir writing.
