The leading topics of the issue are: the politics of multiculturalism in Europe; the concept of work-life balance; artificial intelligence versus humans; and Euroscepticism on the Polish political scene.

The theoretical article on multiculturalism in Europe analyses the phenomenon in light of the sectoral policies of multiethnic countries. An attempt is made to answer the research question: how is multiculturalism taken into account in state public policy? It concludes that it is only an integral part of policy in countries where the government actively promotes and protects the rights and interests of different cultural groups.

The second topic is dealt with in several articles. Based on empirical research in five European countries, an assessment of legal solutions that facilitate work-life reconciliation for public service employees is presented. The role of labour legislation in shaping the balance between these spheres (the so-called work-life balance) is pointed out and the ways in which it is implemented, its usefulness, and the needs that arise in the changing socio-economic reality, as evidenced by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, are identified. The conclusions indicate that, although the facilitation of combining work and family responsibilities is noticeable, it still does not have a sufficient impact on the attractiveness of work and is not innovative. The peculiarities of the public sector make it difficult to freely choose solutions that increase employment flexibility and thus activate parents, especially women, in the labour market.

The text on artificial intelligence attempts to demystify the differences between AI and artificial consciousness. The dynamic development of AI poses new social challenges and requires rapid adaptation of the law. The article also presents the current state of the law in the EU regarding AI.

The paper on the growing Euroscepticism on the political scene in Poland, taking into account the period when the current ruling coalition headed by the Law and Justice Party (PiS) is in power, shows the problem in the context of the government's relationship with the European Union. Based on the political programmes of PiS and the statements of people associated with it, an increase in hostile attitudes towards the EU of the current government is indicated, as well as emerging considerations of leaving the EU (“Polexit”).
