The issue consists of articles devoted to the scientific work of Professor Irena Wojnar (1924–2021) – creator of the Polish school of education through art, the aim of which is to sensitise people and develop their personal culture, understood as a way of life.
Irena Wojnar, scholar, humanist, representative of the pedagogy of culture, was throughout her professional life strongly associated with the University of Warsaw, especially with the Faculty of Pedagogy from the moment it was established in 1953. The articles collected in this volume show the pedagogical thought of Mrs. Professor, and indicate its topicality, universality, and presence in Polish and international scientific life. They are based on biographical research, analysis of source materials, and the authors' recollections. They analyse conceptual categories that were important for Professor Wojnar, revealing the humanistic sensitivity of the scholar and emphasising her ability to distinguish between the world of things and the world of values.
Among the authors of the articles are: Krystyna Milczarek-Pankowska, Mirosława Zalewska-Pawlak, Adam Fijałkowski Agnieszka Izabela Piejka, Wiesław Żardecki, Barbara Kwiatkowska-Tybulewicz, Mariusz Samoraj, and Justyna Żak-Szwarc. The introduction to the volume was prepared by Krystyna Milczarek-Pankowska and Joanna Madalińska-Michalak.
