The issue contains articles on history, sociolinguistics, linguistics and literature studies. History is presented through the prism of the East African caravan routes, while sociolinguistic issues are illustrated by the problem of national language in Ghana. Linguistic analyses focus on Swahili and Ẹ̀dó, but also include African variants of English in Nigeria and French in Burkina Faso. Literary analyses concern the illustration of social and cultural issues in English-language literature by South African and Nigerian authors. The issue also includes 4 reviews of publications in the field of African studies.
