Mickiewicz and Romantic Philosophy of Language
The scope of Mickiewicz’s interest in language was enormous. The fundamental message of the poet’s argument is that speech does not only express reality and depicts it, but in some miraculous way allows us to look into it, learn about the past and predict the future. It is a kind of time machine, which, on the one hand, enables going back to the most distant past, to the beginnings of humanity, not described in chronicles, and on the other hand, allows to design a world about to happen.
Keywords: Adam Mickiewicz, language, philosophy, Slavdom, Romanticism.
